Safety Fitness Rating 2018-06-30T21:19:04+00:00

PETRA consultants writes and files Safety Management Plans to help motor carriers receive a Safety Fitness Determination Rating Upgrade from Unsatisfactory or Conditional Ratings.

This process includes helping a motor carrier implement corrective actions on violations found during a DOT Compliance Review.

A SMP is filed at the State and Federal level where it is reviewed and approved. An Unsatisfactory or Conditional Safety Rating means that a motor carrier is more likely to be inspected which leads to more violations, increased insurance rates, the possibility of not finding insurance, and being denied loads with freight brokers.

Phase 1: Analysis 2018-06-29T17:55:49+00:00

When you complete an inquiry form or call us, one of our CSA Specialist will connect with you to privately discuss you circumstances and answer any questions you may have. At this point, if you want to move forward and receive a free no-obligation analysis of your CSA challenges.

Phase 2: Recommendation 2018-06-29T17:56:48+00:00

If you wish to utilize our services, we will provide you with a through written plan-of-action with options on how to correct your CSA challenges and provide you with a cost breakdown of our services we provide.

Phase 3: Correction 2018-06-29T17:57:45+00:00

When you agree and wish to move forward with our recommendation, any violations discovered during any roadside or weigh station inspection can be disputed. Most carriers have accepted the “warnings” as a minor issue and soon realize that what was termed a “warning” which sounded so insignificant has turned into a nightmare.

We will draft and submit a review dispute request to FMCSA to challenge all violations that are incorrectly reported and/or unfairly cited.

Word of Caution: If these challenges are not addressed, insurance premiums can skyrocket, weigh station inspections will increase and soon after, intervention notices show up. Reducing your CSA score as soon as possible is your only option or you will eventually be flagged for a safety audit which brings about a longer list issues.

Phase 4: Prevention 2018-06-29T17:58:36+00:00

The majority of the negative factors that affect drivers and companies can be prevented. For example, equipment violations for speeding, logs and defective equipment are the most common violations that have the most severe impact.

Routine maintenance and mandatory pre and post-trip inspections would address equipment violations as well as slower speed and proper logging would prevent the others. Our training and prevention plan will implement standard procedures and corrective action techniques to address common violations that quickly raise your CSA scores.
